School Board Member Luisa Santos is thrilled to announce the success of the recent Back-to-School Bash in District 9, which took place on Monday, August 12th, 2024, at Gateway Environmental K-8 Learning Center. With over 500 attendees, the event achieved the goal of empowering students as they begin a new school year and supporting their families with needed resources.
Community spirit and generosity were in full display as community leaders and various organizations came together in support of our students, including Commissioner Kionne McGhee, Gateway Environmental K-8 Learning Center, Miami-Dade County League of Cities, The Education Fund, Resia, Green Pathways to Success, Rock & Rose, Young Musicians Unite, and Miami Music Project.
School Board Member Luisa Santos expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the community for their unwavering support and dedication to education, particularly to the education of District 9 students. “We wanted to ensure that not only were our students prepared with materials for the school year, but that they felt the South Dade community was rallying behind them,” said School Board Member Luisa Santos. “It was thrilling to see all of our partners and almost 100 volunteers come together to make this happen.”
