Santos will bring her determination and perseverance to the School Board
Homestead, Fla. – Today, small businessowner and a Miami-Dade public school graduate, Luisa Santos, officially launched her campaign for Miami-Dade School Board in District 9. Once undocumented, the Colombian American entrepreneur is bringing renewed passion and vision for a new generation of leadership in Miami-Dade County.
Luisa Santos shared, “Education made all the difference for me. I want to channel my entrepreneurial and life experiences to ensure every student has access to the same high quality education and opportunities that I had. Today marks a new chapter in my journey to do just that. I am extremely humbled and excited for the chance to give back to the public school system that nurtured me. This campaign is about building a coalition and amplifying the voices of educators, parents, students, and public school advocates who share my passion for and commitment to our schools. I know together we will lift up a new generation of leadership for Miami-Dade County, and help all students realize their full potential.”
As part of her launch, Luisa Santos debuted a video that shares her story of defying many odds including being an undocumented student, graduating from the prestigious Georgetown University, and celebrating five-years as the proud small business owner of Lulu’s Ice Cream.
